Can Dental Implants Be Used with Porcelain Veneers?

There are often questions as to whether Dental Implants can look natural and be used in conjunction with porcelain veneers to change one’s smile. With proper planning this can be achieved. This case shows how a dental implant and implant crown can be designed to look natural and blend in with the other new porcelain veneers.

Can a Dental Implants and Porcelain Veneers Look Natural Together?

Absolutely.  Dental Implants and Porcelain Veneers are both an artform and science.  Proper implant placement and proper smile designs are essential to successful outcomes to creating beautiful smiles.

The patient's concerns were:

  1. Worn teeth and gummy smile
  2. Failing baby tooth
  3. Short teeth
  4. Mismatched existing veneers

Completion of a 3D implant planning and a smile design was initiated. To manage her gummy smile, a gum lift was completed at the same time the dental implant was placed.  The teeth were also lengthening with porcelain veneers and the dental implant crown.

It is important to note the the implant placement was planned to preserve the gum tissue and to contour this to allow the tissue to look natural with the implant. This allows the implant crown to emerge from the gums the same as a natural tooth.

Can Porcelain Veneers Help With Worn Teeth?

Yes, however, bite correction and stabilization is necessary.  The photos show how the short worn teeth were lengthened. Additionally, a gum lift was utilized to decrease the gummy smile affect.

Overall, the complex case was managed to create a beautiful and natural smile with a dental implant as well.
