This is an interesting case of a young lady who came to see us for her debilitating migraines and underbite. She has also been doing botox She stated she had seen oral surgeons who recommended jaw surgery. Her symptoms were:
- constant headaches
- TMJ pain, pain in facial muscles
- constant neck pain
- bilateral jaw pain, bilateral clicking and popping
- ear pain
Botox for TMJ did not help and she was also getting fillers on the upper lip due to under developed upper arch looking collapsed. Additionally, she was seeing chiropractors every two weeks. She really was opposed to jaw surgery and was seeking alternatives to surgery.
Botox for TMJ is not a solution, it is a band aid. Have you ever heard of placing Botox in the leg muscles when you have a damaged knee joint?
Dr. Konig explains, “By non-surgically repositioning the jaws to a better and corrected physiologic bite, working with her posture before any permanent treatment was rendered we were able to ascertain long term stability. After this phase, minimal to non-prep porcelain restorations were utilized to correct the underbite and underlying problems. The final result is a much improved profile, bite, posture, and a beautiful smile.”
This patient is off all medications and looks and feels phenomenal.
